CNN's Mission Tiger follows the journey of three conservation heroes from Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia who lead the efforts to save tigers and their habitats. We filmed the Thailand segment of the show where three tiger cubs were rescued from traffickers by authorities as part of a crackdown on the illegal wildlife trade in the country. A wildlife forensic scientist tested the cubs' DNA to determine their origin. Genetic evidence like this is sometimes used in court to help authorities prosecute wildlife crimes.
